HVAC System Load Calculation

Load calculation is used to help determine the proper size of equipment needed to heat your home comfortably and efficiently. One root cause of furnace failure is oversized equipment causing overheating and stressing of the heat exchanger making it unsafe to use. To eliminate the chance of future failures, we use the industry-leading, ACCA-Certified Manual-J Load Calculation Program to provide the most accurate assessment of your home. Every home is different; a true load calculation considers the thermal load placed on your home in relation to its orientation and position, the type of window and amount of sun exposure, the type of building materials of which your home is constructed, the square footage of rooms and the home and the habits of your family. By making your furnace as efficient and safe as possible, you will save money on your monthly heating bills while having peace of mind that your family is safe. We can provide you with the information you need to decide the best course of action for your family’s safety, comfort and your budget, such as:

  • Routine furnace maintenance schedules to keep your unit clean and safe
  • Monthly filter changing
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Carbon Monoxide detectors
  • Multi Stage heating

If this is your first service with us, we will include a full load calculation, free of charge.

Air Conditioning

While many people outside of Washington think we are covered in rain all year, Western Washington residents know that that our summers can get sizzling hot. Air conditioning systems usually wait until the hottest days of the year to fizzle out, which can send you into a panic mode to return cooler air to your home. In most cases we can identify the root problems behind your air conditioning malfunction the same day you call and provide solutions to get your home cool and comfortable again. At JDS Heating and Air, our technicians provide the full spectrum of air conditioning services, including:

  • Diagnostics
  • Repair
  • Installation
  • Routine maintenance and service
  • Cleaning and optimization

To properly identify the reasons behind why your air conditioning system failed (and to reduce the chance of failure in the future), we always check the following:

  • Overall condition and health of your HVAC system
  • Dirty indoor coil or outdoor condenser
  • Air flow provisions
  • Filters
  • Blower and fan alignment
  • Damaged coil fins
  • Compressor terminals and service port condition
  • Electrical supply voltage, frayed or worn wiring, contactors, capacitor and sensors
  • Condensate drains, trap, overflow, and sensors
  • Temperature drop of air at vent registers

In some cases we can repair the units to full working order; however, if the system is old, inefficient or parts are unavailable, it may be more cost-effective to purchase a new, more energy-efficient unit.  We provide you with advantage and disadvantage of both options repair or replacement so you can make an educated decision for your home.

Furnace Servicing

During our cold Washington winters, you depend on your furnace to keep your home warm and welcoming. When your furnace fails to heat your home to your ideal temperature, you want it fixed as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible. The furnace experts at JDS Heating and Air can provide the full spectrum of furnace services, including:

  • Diagnostics
  • Repair
  • Installation
  • Maintenance and service
  • Cleaning and optimization

In most cases we can identify the root problems behind your furnace malfunction the same day you call and provide solutions to get your home warm again. Every initial visit to your home includes a furnace evaluation. Through the furnace inspection we can identify the age of the unit, common problems and safety concerns, such as:

  • Thermostat programing and function
  • Carbon monoxide emissions and gas leaks
  • Unsafe heat exchangers
  • Efficiency range
  • Dirty safety switches and controls, burner compartments, blower motor and wheels
  • Faulty ignition system
  • Incoming voltage, loose wiring and connections
  • Filter condition

Furnace cleaning and repair is always an option; however, it may be more cost-effective and safer to install a new energy-efficient unit depending on the age and condition of the equipment. Reliability of your HVAC system is second only to your safety!
